DESCRIPTION

In Biological Psychology, also known as, Biopsychology, Psychobiology, Brain and Behavior, or Behavioral Neuroscience, students will learn and apply principles of biology to the study of physiological mechanisms regulating behavior in both human and non-human animals. The course will focus on select psychobiological phenomena at the level of nerves, neurotransmitters, brain circuitry and neural systems and the basic biological processes that underlie the development and expression of normal and abnormal behavioral states and conditions. The goal of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge regarding nervous cell biology and its relation to brain anatomy, functional anatomy and its wiring. Furthermore, basic concepts and findings in neuroscience with special emphasis on brain-body relationship, brain-behavior relationship and mind-behavior relationship are treated.
